PRIMARY School P&C

FUNDRAISING initiative

Gold Educational Tours is dedicated to the promotion of cross-cultural understanding through Japanese student immersion programs.

For the past 17 years we have partnered with more than 60 schools throughout metropolitan Perth and regional Western Australia, connecting Aussie kids with an international community through real life, immersive cross cultural experiences.

We recognise that parents and the community play a vital role in the education of children. This initiative helps Primary School P&C groups to raise funds they need and to share an incredible life experience for their kids.

  • When Japanese student groups visit Perth, we arrange for them to attend a local school and stay with a local family for the duration of their stay, which is typically between 7 and 10 days.

Students either stay with families from the school they will be visiting or other families from the local community.

The fundraising initiative is simply a commitment from GOLD to donate $100 to the P&C for every student hosted by your primary school or local community (a minimum of 5 families required). The donation is paid on completion of the hosting period.

Host families also receive a hosting payment of $50 per night to help cover their expenses. They can opt in to donate some or all of their fee to the P&C.

The initiative is a win win, it helps us place students with great active families in the community and P&Cs groups to supplement their fundraising in a way that’s fun and rewarding for their school community.

There are many students arriving from Japan, so there is always a great opportunity to fundraise throughout the year.

  • All we ask is that you engage with your community to inform them of the initiative and the opportunity to host.

We are experienced coordinators of cross-cultural exchange programs and school immersion. We manage all aspects of the hosting process and provide full 24/7 support to your community during the homestay.

  • We will send you a personalised brochure in digital form for you to use and share with your school’s P&C community.

If a family from the P&C group is interested to host, they send us their details via the form below and we get in touch to discuss the hosting experience and what opportunities we have coming up.

  • If this is something your P&C group is keen to explore, please get in touch with the GOLD team on 08 6150 3759 or email homestay@goldil.com.au.

“The GOLD team was truly professional. From the initial meeting and receiving of the exchange student profiles, until the final day the students attended our College, communication was very open, details and procedures were clearly explained and any queries were always promptly responded to. The exchange students were matched very appropriately to their host sisters/host family, with many families expressing their interest to be part of the program again. Any apprehensions we may have had about getting involved in the exchange program were soon alleviated with Jason personally visiting the College and discussing the exchange process. We are very keen to continue our business relationship with GOLD”.

  • We have developed our policies in partnership with the schools we’ve worked with to offer complete coverage on all aspects of the immersion and homestay programs.

faq for parents

  • Hosting an international student is a fun, unique and rewarding experience the whole family can enjoy. It is a chance to share your way of life, learn about a foreign culture and an opportunity to create a new international friendship.

It is as simple as involving the student in your daily routines and giving them the opportunity to experience the Aussie way of life.

Please click here for to hear what our families have to say about their hosting experience.

  • We don’t expect you to be a full time tour guide for your student, even involving them in the little day-to-day activities makes the homestay experience fun!

We only ask 3 things of our host families:

    1. Provide the students with a place to sleep in their own room or in a shared room with another child of the same gender.

    2. Provide the student with 3 meals a day including a packed lunch when they are at school or when they go on excursions.

    3. Drop the students off and pick the students up from the local school that they are attending.

  • Not at all.

We understand that everyone leads a busy life! After school and on weekends your Japanese student will fit in with your schedule.

In our experience, it is the everyday experiences that the students find most memorable and enjoyable during their stay. They love accompanying their host brother/sister to extracurricular activities, for example: sports practice and matches, piano and dance lessons, church, parties, supermarkets and other activities that are normal for your family.

  • Gold Education Tours has trained and experienced staff who are responsible for providing support to the Japanese students and host families throughout the duration of the homestay.

Before the students arrive, we will run a short online information session to give you the chance to ask us any questions that you may have. Once the students are here, we provide bilingual support, 24 hours, 7 days a week.

You will also receive hosting payment of $50 per night to help cover your expenses.

  • Please fill out the registration form below and a member of our team will get in touch with more information.
